From 1904 to the present day, the France national team jersey has accompanied the greatest moments of French football. A look back at the evolution of Les Bleus' jersey through the ages.
The Origins (1904-1950)
The first France national team jersey was a simple blue shirt. The Gallic rooster appeared in the 1920s, a symbol of national pride.
The Modern Era (1950-1984)
Jerseys evolved with technology. Blue established itself as the primary colour, white as the alternative. Platini's Bleus wore iconic Adidas jerseys.
The Glorious Years (1984-2000)
Euro 1984 at home left its mark with a royal blue jersey. But it was the 1998 jersey that became legendary: the World Cup at home, Zidane, Deschamps, Thuram...
The 1998 Jersey
The 1998 World Cup Adidas jersey remains the most iconic in Les Bleus' history. Deep blue with the three white stripes on the shoulders, it symbolises the French triumph on the world stage.
The Nike Era (2011-Present)
Nike became Les Bleus' kit supplier in 2011. Modern designs alternate between tributes to the past and innovations. The Euro 2016 jersey, the 2018 World Cup kit (second star), the 2022 final in Qatar and the 2026 World Cup mark recent history.
Memorable Jerseys
- 1958: Third place at the World Cup with Kopa and Fontaine
- 1984: Home Euros, Platini king of Europe
- 1998: The World Cup at home
- 2000: The Euro double after the World Cup
- 2018: The second star in Russia
- 2022: The Doha final, lost on penalties to Argentina
- 2026: World Cup semi-final, knocked out by Spain, the eventual champions
The Current Jersey (2026-2027)
The 2026-2027 France jersey keeps the Bleus' codes: deep blue, the Gallic rooster on the chest and the two stars of 1998 and 2018 above the crest. The range comes in home, away and goalkeeper versions, alongside retro reissues from 1982, 1988, 1998 and 2006.
