Your printed jersey is an investment. Here are our 7 tips to keep it looking like new for years, whether it bears a star player's name or your own personalisation.
1. Always turn the jersey inside out before washing
This is THE golden rule. By turning the jersey inside out, you protect the printing from rubbing against the drum and other clothes. The printing is applied by heat transfer and remains sensitive to abrasion.
2. Wash cold (30°C maximum)
Heat is the enemy of jersey printing. Hot water can loosen the adhesive holding the letters and numbers. Always use a cycle at 30°C maximum, or cold wash if possible.
3. Avoid intensive spinning
Too powerful a spin cycle can create permanent creases in the printing. Opt for a gentle spin (400-800 rpm) or no spin at all.
4. Air dry, never tumble dry
The tumble dryer is strictly forbidden for printed jerseys. Intense heat can melt or crack the printing. Lay your jersey flat or hang it on a hanger, away from direct sunlight.
5. Never iron over the printing
If you need to iron your jersey (which is rarely necessary with modern technical fabrics), only iron the front of the jersey, at low temperature, and never directly over the printing.
6. Store properly
Don't fold the jersey at the printing area. Ideally, hang it on a hanger or fold it so that the printing lies flat. Avoid compressing it under other clothes.
7. Treat stains quickly
If you get a stain, act fast. Use a mild stain remover, apply it to the affected area (avoid the printing) and wash immediately. The longer you wait, the harder the stain will be to remove.

What to do if the printing peels off?
If despite your precautions, a letter or number starts to peel off, you can try to reattach it:
- Place a thin cloth over the printing
- Apply an iron at medium temperature
- Press for 10-15 seconds
- Allow to cool before handling
This method works for minor peeling. For more significant damage, you will unfortunately need to consider new printing.
